My 5 tips to level up your makeup collection

We may love drugstore makeup (and believe me, I do!) we may swear by some of the products, but every makeup addict that I know (even the ones that only have drugstore makeup) have a love affair with more high hand products.
I'm not a makeup snob that only wears luxurious brands like  Chanel or Dior, I have Maybelline and L'oreal products (among other amazing drugstore brands) that are essentials on my makeup routine and that I have yet to find a better high hand alternatives.
Besides all that last year I decided that I wanted to buy better makeup, try some of the products that I heard my favourite youtubers talk about every day, and that is what this post is about, basically I'm about to give you my tips on how to level up your makeup collection, so you way want to grab a notebook and take some notes.

Tip #1: Stop buying loads of makeup (that you definitely do not need and do not use)! I did this, everyone does. Part of being a beauty blogger is stay on top of the latest products to come out, and it's so much better for your wallet if you buy loads of drugstore products instead of investing in some higher hand ones, But in a long term you will end up with a lot of products that ware used four times only for a blog post and never touched again. You do the math, would you rather have 10 Essence eyeshadow pallets or one Naked? For me I would chose a Naked pallet everyday. So if you stop buying every single product you see for no other reason than it's low price you will be able to have more money to invest on higher hand makeup.

Tip #2: Buy it when on sale! No brainer I know, we should all try to buy basically everything when on sale, but for high hand makeup sometimes you can get so many great deals (today I bought a 14 euros Formula X nail polish for 4 euros and a 22 euros Benefit Lipgloss for 7), on sephora or on retail shops that have like all brands 15% of. It will reduce the price a bit and you won't feel as bad as you normally would about it, I promise.

Tip#3: If the store wants you to create a card, create the card! I can't even tell you how much money I've saved with my Sephora card (being the one that I use the most). Here in Portugal we don't get crazy deals, like they do on america, but normally I get a coupon of 20% or 23% off every two months, plus when you buy a total of 150 euros (translated to 150 points), and let's face it 150 euros is nothing in Sephora, they will send you a 10% coupon.

Tip#4: Think rationally. By this I mean a Maybelline lipstick here in Portugal is priced at around 12 euros (this is why I always buy them online for like 5 euros) and a MAC Lipstick is around 20, so for 8 more euros you can have a great lipstick instead of one and a half lipstick from Maybelline, so ask yourself, do you need two lipsticks or do you only need one? If the answer is one, well do you want to invest a bit more on a better one? At least most times I know I do. Believe me if you ask yourself this about every makeup product that you buy, in a year time your makeup collection will have a lot of higher hand products

Tip#5: Invest in things that you know will last or that you will use until exhaustion. For me the first high hand must buy thing is a eyeshadow pallet, for me there is no drugstore comparison to my Chocolate Bar. I will also recommend for you to invest in a nude lipstick colour, you will use it a lot and you will feel a lot fancier when using it, besides if you are paying more money you may get your money worn off as best as you can.

So I guess that this ware my top five tips or rules that I followed to level up my makeup collection and believe me I'm getting happier and happier everyday with it. I really hope this post helped any of you guys, and if you have any questions about this please leave them in the comments, I always reply to them.
If you want to see a post about my drugstore favourites I would also love to do that because a lot of drugstore products are favourites of mine.

  5. excelentes conselhos Ana!
