I thought that I could be interesting to make a playlist with 10 songs that marked my 2017 and share them with you with a little bit of the story behind each song. I don't think I've ever talked about music before, but I have a very all over the spectrum music taste. I love good old Rock'n'Roll, but I like Indie music and Fado and I have a soft spot for Musicals and basically gone are the days in which I thought that I had to have the most eclectic music taste ever and that every song that was on the radio was total shit, with that said let's talk about the songs.
A Lovely Night - Lalaland Soundtrack: The movie spoke to me on so many different levels. This song must be my favorite one out of the soundtrack. I couldn't possibly do a 2017 playlist without a song from Lalaland.
Landslide - Fleetwood Mac: This one has nothing to do with the second season of This is Us. Fleetwood Mac is one of my all-time favorite bands, I love almost all their songs, the music and the lyrics. Also, I have a thing for Stevie Nicks, but can you blame me? Out of all their songs I listened to in the past year, this is the one I rocked out the most and I am super glad I did. It gives me huge 70s vibes and it really calms me down.
Arabella - Arctic Monkeys: A big moment for me in 2017 was memorizing the lyrics to this song. This must be one of my favorite ones from one of my favorite bands. I love how energetic Artcic songs make me feel even if they are super energetic songs. Also, every time I listen to this band I am transported to their concert a few years ago in NOS ALIVE.
Vou dar de Beber á dor: Amália Rodrigues: Something that a lot of people don't know about me is that I love fado. I especially love female singers and of course, my favorite one is Amália Rodrigues. The song Vou dar d Beber á Dor (I will serve a drink to the pain - I guess that this is the best translation I can offer you) is based on another fado about a whore house, and Amália redid the song and she tells us how the house used to be and how it has been transformed into a pawnshop. A few other artists made updates of the same song after this version but this one is still my favorite. Also, this is quite a happy fado so if you want to start listening to these very Portuguese genera of music I would totally recommend this song.
Baby I'm Yours - Arctic Monkeys: Quite a different song compared to Arabella.I had never heard this song and it has kind of a 50s vibe to it. I love the lyrics and it kind of made me fall back in love with Arctic Monkeys. It showed me how versatile they are as a band and how much I love them. I must say this is a super Autumnal or Wintery romantic song.
The Sky is a Neighborhood - Foo Fighters: If I had to pick a moment from 2017 I would have to say the Foo Fighters concert I watched on the 7th of July. It was one of the best concerts I've ever seen (the first place has to go to The Rolling Stones.. but c'mon it's The Rolling Stones). I'm a huge Foo fan, I actually cried multiple times during the concert. I've had a huge crush on Dave Ghrol for at least 5 years now and the concert itself as you can imagine was a dream come true. Anyways, the song itself is one that I've never paid too much attention to before this year and now I'm obsessed (now aka since July) I can't stop listening to it and I'm going to state this (and believe m, it's a huge statement) IT IS MY FAVORITE FOO FIGHTERS SONG!
That's What I Like - Bruno Mars: So Bruno Mars, not really my favorite artist ever, even though after he did Carpool Karaoke I really became fond of him. This song is the song that marked my summer the most. If you didn't know for the past 2 years I have been working in nightclubs during the summer and I love it. This song was the song that always made me want to run to the dance floor and dance it out. Still one of my favorite more commercial songs ever.
Dani California - Red Hot Chilli Peppers: I had to include a song by Red Hot Chilli Peppers because 2017 was the year I want to see them play live for the first time. The concert wasn't amazing but it was still an important moment on my year and they are still one of my favorite bands. Dani California was picked because it is one of my favorite songs from the band in general.
Some Day Soon - Alexi Murdoch: It's impressive how much movies and TV shows can influence our musical choices. This is Us presented me to this song, something that I doubt it would have happened if I hadn't watched the series. I love the lyrics and even though I don't know any other song by the same artist this song really marked my Autumn and it feels me up with really relaxed and chilled vibes every time I listen to it.
April Come She Will - Simon & Garfunkel: I must say I don't know many songs by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, despite my mum really enjoying the duo. I think this song was a Spotify recommendation based on my Cozy Days by the Fire playlist. I really love the guitar and how relaxing. I can't wait to listen to more songs by Simon & Garfunkel this year.
What are the songs that made you 2017 better? Let's make the comment section a huge playlist!
Nice playlist. Must admit that Bruno is the only one I listen to in your playlist. Will give the other songs a listen.

You really should, specially if you like a Indie Rock kind of vibe!
